KAEN Thai street food: Authentic Thai Flavors & Classic Dishes in Carnegie VIC

Great addition to Carnegie We ordered the following dishes: - Three flavored barramundi fillet- nice and sweet with fresh fillet. - Grilled pork jowl salad - great taste, next time we will opt for hot for more spice. - Tom yum seafood soup - this was a favourite, the soup was so delicious and the seafood was very tender. Wish the portion was bigger with more soup and veggies. Overall, enjoyed the hospitality and the owner was so lovely. Definitely coming back to try some more dishes :) Thanks for the delicious meal and great service.

Good new Thai place in Carnegie. The menu is fairly extensive with some great Thai classics. A touch on the expensive side but that seems to be happening everywhere these days! The food is flavourful and fresh. The Roti and Satay was an absolute standout - incredibly delicious! I did find some of the main dishes a tad oily, but the flavours were still nice. The Crispy Pork was really well cooked, lovely and crisp - however for the price I wouldn’t liked more of it on the dish. I also would’ve liked to see more vegetables throughout some of the other dishes but they were still really nice! Ultimately though I’d love to see some small alteration I’m quite happy with the food here as it’s very fresh and full of flavour. Would definitely be back to try again and have more of the Roti and Satay!

This is not one of your boring Green curry shops. Kaen Thai in Carnegie has quickly become one of my go-to spots for authentic Thai comfort food. Their deep-fried whole fish is a standout – perfectly crispy on the outside, yet tender and juicy inside, with just the right balance of seasoning. The fried rice is packed with flavour and has that beautiful smoky wok taste that makes it so addictive. And if you’re a pork belly fan, theirs is done exceptionally well – crispy, rich, and incredibly satisfying. The food is consistently fresh and cooked with care, and the portions are generous. Whether dining in or taking away, Kaen Thai delivers the kind of dishes that make you want to come back again and again. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and craving delicious, well-executed Thai classics.

Had Thai at Kaen Street Food with my Thai sister-in-law, and she approved! Food came out fast and was absolutely delicious. Plenty of street parking available — on Saturdays after 12 pm, it’s unlimited.

Tried a new Thai spot in Carnegie. The food was delicious, though a bit spicy for our taste. However, I’m giving it four stars because both my partner and I felt very thirsty after the meal—perhaps they used too much MSG.

This place was amazing. I had heard about KAEN online while trying to find Thai food that is not one of the boring Green curry shops. Kaen Thai in Carnegie has quickly become a go to spot for authentic Thai comfort food. Their deep-fried whole Barramundi with Thai Spicy Herb is tasty and crispy on the outside, yet tender and juicy inside, with just the right balance of seasoning and hotness. The Thai Basil Fried Rice with crispy pork belly is packed with flavour and well cooked on the wok. And the calamari was well cooked with the right flavours. To finish off Mango & Sticky Rice and the Fried Coconut Ice Cream was divine. Maybe a bit too big for 2 people all this food but we finished it all off. Highly recommend if you're in the area and craving delicious, Thai classics which are harder to find in your standard Thai Shop.

The best Moo Ka Ta in the area. The food is authentic, fresh, and full of real Thai flavours. The Som Tum is absolutely the best, spicy, tangy, and perfectly balanced. A must-visit spot for anyone who loves true Thai street food.
